Through our Historic Preservation Fund, GRIVA recently donated funds to assist the St. John’s Church Foundation efforts to repair gravestones at Historic St. John’s Church, 1741, in Richmond, VA. The church is famous for Patrick Henry’s declaration of “Give me liberty … or give me death!” at the Second Virginia Convention in March, 1775. This historically important church has been a National Historic Landmark since 1961. The Foundation recently reported that 70 gravestones have been repaired to date, along with other important preservation projects related to the church’s history. Preservation is on-going.
