September Program: Patrick Henry’s Red Hill: A Journey Through History with Cody Youngblood
September 23, 2025 @ 7:00 pm – 8:00 pm EDT
This presentation explores the rich and complex history of Red Hill, the final home and burial site of Founding Father Patrick Henry. We’ll trace Henry’s influential life as a fiery orator and advocate for liberty, best known for his iconic declaration, “Give me liberty, or give me death!” Beyond his public legacy, we’ll delve into his private life at Red Hill, including his family and the plantation he managed.
The program will also shed light on the lives of the enslaved people who lived and labored at Red Hill, acknowledging their contributions and the harsh realities they endured. Additionally, we will examine the Indigenous presence in the region before and during European settlement, highlighting the often-overlooked narratives that shaped the land’s deeper history.
